Nominated for Southend Borough Council's Design Award, this contemporary mixed-use development makes best use of a former printers and yard area, located at a prominent position along the London Road (A13), Essex. The clever use of projecting cantilevered balconies over the public highway rather than within the site's boundary enabled an increased density, whilst providing south-facing private amenity for residents. A large area of flat roof has also been utilised as a communal roof garden to provide social interaction between residents, out-of-site from public view.
